Tree Challenge Type Test
The worse you dance it, the funnier it gets โ which tree are you? ยท 12 questions ยท Free
Back in 2019, a Korean singer-songwriter called Kadegarden released a song titled "Tree." Nobody paid it much attention until February 2026, when a YouTube Shorts channel resurrected it as the soundtrack to a dance move: arms and legs flailing like branches in a storm, filmed dead straight-faced, from a low angle that makes the dancer look like they're sprouting out of the ground. That's the Tree Challenge. It has no real choreography to speak of, which is exactly the point โ the worse you dance it, the funnier the clip gets.
A dance with no steps to get right
Most dance challenges reward you for nailing the moves. This one runs backwards. Trying too hard actually kills the joke โ stiff limbs and no rhythm play better on camera than a clean routine ever could. Because there's essentially zero barrier to entry, it spread fast through YouTube Shorts and TikTok from late February 2026 onward, and it stuck around long enough to make several "biggest memes of the year so far" roundups.
What it's really testing: how you hold the spotlight
The interesting part is that the same song and the same non-choreography produce wildly different people. Some square their shoulders and stay serious even mid-flail. Some just let the rhythm carry them. Some stand stiff and awkward right up until the moment they suddenly commit all the way. Some are already thinking about camera angles. Some genuinely could not care less. This test borrows the shape of the Tree Challenge to look at something underneath it: how you actually behave the second attention lands on you.
5 types, 12 questions
The Pine, who squares up even off-beat; the Willow, who just moves with the rhythm; the Bamboo, quiet right up until the switch flips; the Cherry Blossom, who takes the whole spotlight and runs with it; and the Gingko, who moves at their own pace regardless of what's trending. Twelve everyday situations โ from group chats to stress relief to first meetings with strangers โ sort you into one of the five. The result page covers each type's traits, strengths, where it gets hard, what you actually do on camera, who you pair well with, which pairing creates friction, and one thing to try next time.
