The D-100 Exam Countdown Type Test
100 days out from the exam that decides everything โ what kind of finisher are you? (feat. Korea's suneung D-100) ยท 10 questions ยท Free
Korea's college entrance exam, the suneung, is a single day that does most of the work of deciding where you go to university. The 2027 exam falls on Thursday, 19 November 2026, which puts late August at the milestone Korean students call D-100 โ the day the countdown drops from three digits to two. It gets news segments and D-100 gift sets, and it reliably fills every student forum with the same question: what am I supposed to do now? The honest answer is that it depends entirely on who's asking. Handed the same hundred days, one person builds a timetable, one person hasn't started, and one person is already sorting last month's wrong answers by category.
Not how much you study โ how you hold together
This test doesn't ask about your hours or your grades. It asks what you do in the moments where the pressure actually shows: 2am with pages still on the list, a mock exam that came back worse than you expected, a friend asking what you scored, a weekend that suddenly has nothing in it, the night before. Line those choices up and a strategy appears โ your own particular way of getting from here to the exam. Every one of those strategies has a stretch where it wins and a stretch where it will absolutely trip you.
The five countdown types
The Timetable Architect, who can't open a book until the grid is finished. The Deadline Engine, which runs hotter the closer D-day gets. The Data Dissector, who plans from evidence instead of instinct. The Stamina Keeper, who turns not falling apart into a skill. And the Scene Setter, whose focus switches on only when the room is right. There's no ranking here. All five are approaches that real people have finished on โ they just leak in different places.
Ten moments between D-100 and the night before
The questions run the length of the countdown: the morning the notification arrives, the mock exam that came back a band low, the subject whose score won't move, 2am with pages left, the friend asking about your score, the empty weekend, the anxiety that lands three weeks out, and finally the night before. Your result walks through how the hundred days tend to go for your type, what your real strengths are and where you get caught, which type you study well beside and which combination quietly grinds you down, and the single change worth making in the time that's left.
None of this is specific to Korea. Anyone counting down to a fixed date โ SATs or A-levels, the MCAT, the LSAT, the bar, a certification deadline, finals week โ is running the same problem, and the types map straight across. Treat it as entertainment rather than a study-skills assessment: it sorts a set of habits into a type, nothing more. That said, if the flatness or the sleeplessness has been running for weeks and sitting down at a desk has become genuinely heavy, that isn't a willpower problem โ talk to someone you trust or a professional rather than carrying it alone. If you want a rough read on where your head is right now, the stress level test and the burnout test are both worth ten minutes.
Who it's for
- Anyone counting down to a fixed exam date โ entrance exams, licensing exams, finals
- Anyone with no clear sense of how to spend the time that's left
- Anyone who only ever plans, or who only ever sprints at the end
- Anyone whose study partner runs on a completely different rhythm
